Head Women’s Basketball Coach – St. Joseph’s University, N.Y. (Brooklyn)

Joe Giacchi was appointed Head Coach of the St. Joseph’s University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) women’s basketball program in April 2023, bringing with him more than a decade of coaching experience at the collegiate level. He succeeded longtime coach Tom Flahive, who retired following the 2022–23 season.

Before joining St. Joseph’s, Giacchi spent several years as an assistant coach at Caldwell University, where he helped guide the program to the 2018 NCAA Tournament. In 2021–22, he stepped in as acting head coach, earning his first head coaching win against Mercy College and leading the Cougars to a 7–5 record during his tenure. Under his leadership, Caldwell finished first in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division standings and ranked second in NCAA Division II in defensive rebounds.

In addition to his coaching duties, Giacchi took on an expanded leadership role when he was named Assistant Athletic Director for Recreation and Facilities in November 2023. In this capacity, he oversees daily operations at The Hill Center and St. Angela turf facility, coordinates off-campus field rentals, and supervises numerous home athletic events. He previously held similar responsibilities at Caldwell, managing the campus fitness center and providing administrative support for men’s lacrosse and sprint football. Giacchi also contributed to Caldwell’s Athletics Hall of Fame committee, annual golf outing, and NIL initiatives.

A graduate of Caldwell University (B.A.) and West Virginia University (M.S.), Giacchi is a native of Totowa, N.J. He resides in Hazlet, N.J., with his wife, Chelsea.
